Here we go with another of my KiSS dolls. It's been over a year since the last one, but you'll forgive me because of the amount of work I put in on this one, right? I mean, look at those frickin' wings! Plus, I've been working on another big'un - but that's another readme for another LZH.

Here we have Vivi from Final Fantasy 9. His last name has been variously spelled "Orunitia" and "Ornitier" in licensed documentation, so I'm going with the one that I think sounds prettier. He was the FF9 character who grabbed me and drew me into the story. I'm not a sucker for cuteness - Sanrio-type stuff makes me gag - but I was endeared at first sight by the a-freakin-dorable "pointy-hat boy."

We never get any hint of what's under his hat during the game. Is he human? Is he a doll, a puppet, or something else? I like to think that he's human, or at least human enough, and that the Black Mage soldiers that followed him were deliberately limited in their abilities and lifespans so they wouldn't inconveniently clutter up the place after their work was done. However, you don't design your prototype to go bad, therefore he won't "stop" early like the others. There, that's my story and I'm sticking with it.

The boyish design was inspired by "Shining Place," a beautifully drawn doujinshi in which Vivi appears as a young boy, his face unshadowed. I've seen a number of doujinshi in which we see his face, but this was the first one where it actually, to my eyes, looked *right.* If you'd like to see this artwork, it's in the doujinshi part of The ViviSection, URL at the bottom of this file.

A few images were scanned, or adapted from scans. These include the moogle (traced over a scan) and the backgrounds (manipulated scans). All of these came from the FF9 art book.

The MIDI is "Melodies of Life-Final Fantasy," as heard above the game's end credits.

This set has a few FKiSS effects. Snapto, of course. Click on his face when he's in Human or Genome form and he'll change expressions. There's music, and the options to turn snapto on and off and make the body shadowing (which is normally a spell associated with the hats) permanent or dynamic. The moogle is in charge of the music and options, and if he's hiding just click on his pompom to make him come out. (And if you're tired of him click on the pompom again and he'll re-hide.)

Set info:

Set 0: Title, credits, and options.
Set 1: His game clothes, normal and Trance mode.
Set 2: Black Mage villagers, types A, B, and C.
Set 3: Black Waltzes 1, 2, and 3.
Set 4: Final Fantasy cosplay: Tactics Black Mage, a White Mage, and the FF1/8-Bit Theater Black Mage, complete with staff-chucks. (Staffchucks are not 8BT canon. I made 'em up. Blame me.)
Set 5: Fun variations, including an Orko costume and a set of jammies.
Sets 6-9: Clutter, wonderful clutter!
