Here we go with another KiSS doll. Here we have Orko, who appeared in "He-Man and The Masters of The Universe," both the '80s Filmation and the new series. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that, way back when, he was my favorite character, despite being an obvious "tweak" inserted for comic relief and kiddie appeal. When I recently wandered into the Internet MOTU fandom I found that I was not alone; a lot of people liked the little guy. Some, like me, were even old enough back in the '80s to have known better. ;)

Orko's face was never shown on the TV series. Never one to leave well enough alone, I designed a face for him. Then, in a later episode, they showed us Prankster, a Trollan who ran around with his face uncovered... and he was the most annoying, stupidest-looking critter. So, I'm sticking with my "starbaby meets rabbit" design.

This set has some FKiss 2. The usual changing expressions. Put something grabbable in his hand and he'll grab it - and it is screen specific, meaning that when the hands and gloves on one screen grab something the other screens will remain unchanged, and please be impressed by that, because it was a pain to work out. Er... click on the crystal ball to see a loved one, click on the Magic 8-Ball to get "the moral of the story" ala the ends of the old Filmation episodes. Put a hat ot helmet on him and his face will be shadowed. Put the spectacles on him and he transforms into Uncle Montork. Hand him Spydra's wand and he gets possessed, but he recovers when you take it away again. Oh, and the music scroll tumbles and flies around. Whee.

A note to the purists: by nature, to dress a KiSS doll you have to be able to undress it. So, I've drawn what I think is under Orko's robe and hat. As I said, it's just my own speculation, so don't take it too seriously. If you don't want to see my design for his face, simply click on the "never reveal face" option on screen 0 and it'll be permanently shadowed. Nasty "How dare you show his face!" complaints will either be blithely ignored or posted on my site (name and E-mail address included) for all to laugh at. But I shouldn't get any of those complaints, because nobody's silly enough to think that you can have a KiSS set without a base doll, right? :)

MIDIs:

"Techno de Chocobo" is a remix of a bit of Final Fantasy series music. This bit of music always reminded me of Orko, possibly because its energetic silliness reminds me of Orko's theme from the '80s show.
"Strange Magic" is by Electric Light Orchestra.
"The Sorceror's Apprentice" is by Dukas.
"Cantina Band" is from "Star Wars."
